A Great Pianist Who Plays Music With Her Heart

Posted by Yoke Wong on 11/10/2014 to Inspirational Stories

Gui Gui Zheng, a 20 year old Chinese girl born without fingers, has amazed millions of people all over the world with her amazing piano playing. She was born without fingers on her right hand, which simply extends to a stump just after her knuckles. Gui Gui grew up in a very small town called Yangji Village in China and had never even seen a piano until five years ago. This inspiring woman without fingers plays piano beautifully without the fingers on one hand.

Gui Gui participated in the second series of the popular TV show China's Got Talent, which aired during the winter of 2012. She decided to go on China's Got Talent because she wanted to use her special hands to play beautiful music for everyone. Upon appearing on China's Got Talent, Gui Gui had only been playing the piano for two years. On the show, she performed Richard Clayderman's complex Souvenir D'enfance.

After she finished her performance, one of the judges asked her if she could tell the audience about her unfortunate experience. Gui Gui doesn't believe that her experience is unfortunate. She thinks that God has special plans for her and feels blessed to have such a wonderful pair of hands. They allow her to play the piano differently than most people.

When asked about her motivation to play the piano, she remarked that in the beginning, it was the sound of the piano that moved her. As such, she just wanted to learn to play the instrument well. After she started learning to play it, she realized that Got had blessed her by giving her such wonderful hands. Interestingly, her response is similar to that of many great pianists who were born with all of their fingers. Ultimately you play music with your heart, not your hands. Due to her unusual circumstances, Gui Gui has a deeper understanding of this concept than most people.

The beautiful music that Gui Gui makes is nothing short of a miracle, and she enjoys every minute of it. Despite her great talent and worldwide recognition, she does not have great dreams for stardom. She would like to be a preschool teacher and play beautiful melodies for children.

It was a humbling experience to hear her play the piano. I have ten fingers and cannot play as well and as beautifully as her. She is also a beautiful young lady. I am impressed, but not surprised. God has done a miracle in her life.

Through the Creator my mind has been renewed and my heart guarded, because he used Gui Gui to spread love through her piano playing. Music comes from the heart and shines through the performance. What a wonderful performance. I have 10 fingers and am always making excuses for not being able to play like I want to. It's time for me to buckle down and challenge myself. Thanks Yoke. What an inspiration.
